How To Progress Fia Questline And Unlock Its Major Events

Fia's narrative in Elden Ring provides one of the most intricate and lore-rich journeys across the Lands Between. As the Deathbed Companion, her quest connects directly to major world events, unique boss encounters, and an alternate ending for the game. Navigating her storyline requires careful attention to dialogue triggers, key item locations, and strategic boss battles.
Starting the Journey in Roundtable Hold
Your initial encounter with Fia takes place inside the Roundtable Hold in a bedroom adjacent to Smithing Master Hewg. Speaking with her allows you to receive her embrace, granting a Baldachin's Blessing in exchange for a minor temporary health debuff. Continuing her quest relies on returning to her as you make significant progress through the campaign.
Once you reach the Altus Plateau or defeat two Great Rune bosses, Fia will present you with a Weathered Dagger during a private interaction. You must deliver this dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead, inside the main room of Roundtable Hold. Reloading the area after this exchange reveals a tragic confrontation that leads to Fia leaving the hub completely.
Journeying to the Subterranean Deeproot Depths
To follow Fia after her departure, you must travel to the subterranean region known as Deeproot Depths. Players can enter this area by resting in a coffin after defeating the Valiant Gargoyles in Siofra Aqueduct, or by using a secret path beneath Leyndell. Once inside, navigate across the massive tree roots to reach the eastern plateau.
At the top of the arena, you will confront Fia's Champions in a multi-wave NPC battle. Defeating these spirit warriors reveals Fia resting beside the Prince of Death's Throne. Choose to be held by her again to maintain her trust rather than seeking retribution.
Retrieving the Cursemark and Unlocking the Final Boss
Fia requires the Cursemark of Death to fulfill her destiny and usher in her desired age. This key item is obtained at the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia, which becomes accessible during Ranni's questline. Handing the Cursemark to Fia rewards you with the Radiant Baldachin's Blessing.
Exhaust her dialogue and reload the area to find Fia asleep in her chamber. Interacting with her body grants entry to the Deathbed Dream, triggering the legendary fight against Lichdragon Fortissax. Defeating the dragon allows you to collect the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from Fia.
Consequences and Narrative Outcomes
Obtaining the Mending Rune gives you the option to select the Age of the Duskborn ending upon defeating the final campaign boss. If you previously handed the Twinned Armor to D's brother, he will appear over Fia's body after the dream sequence. Reloading the zone once more allows you to collect her complete armor set and retrieve D's gear.
